And then you make a choice

for all the right reasons

which leads you to others;

other choices, some easy, some tough

and some that aren’t choices at all.

 

And then you blunder on,

not so much through your mistakes

as through your self-made impossibilities,

through smiles, tears and laughter

towards the inevitable choices you don’t want to make.

 

And then you’re left with the choice

to do the right thing

at a price which is much too wrong

or doing what is wrong

at the expense of all that matters.

 

And then you wonder

and then you think

and then you weigh

and then you choose.
