Another heartbeat

It is to hope that you and I are not in the same room,

should you ever, unintentionally, get to read these lines;

your poor young dad would, in all probability,

be as embarrassed as a nun at a nudist convention.

Forgive the playful tone of the words I write

without embarrassment or refrain

and only for one simple reason:

today, for the first time, you were heard.

They say you are healthy and your heartbeat is strong,

so that soon the whole world will hear

that another bright light will come

to enlighten this darkened world we live on.

You’ve already begun to light up this world,

a prelude to what I am sure

will be an incredible life;

your mom and I are already glowing.

I am so proud.
